Meliaputti is a village and a Mandal in Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh.
Venugopalaswamy temple at Meliaputti was built by Smt. Vishnupriya Maharani wife of Maharaja Sri Veera Veerendra Pratap Rudra Gajapati of Parlakimidi during 1810 with the money ( 2 lacks at that time) given from her parental side at the time of her marriage. It took 10 yrs to get completed as per her wishes.
It is only after 1956 Maharajah Sri Krishna chandra Gajapathi allowed public into the temple after taking written agreement from the village elders just to avoid inappropriate incidents.
Here dola purnami is celebrated for 9 days.
It is still Under Parlakimidi Estate as it was their personal property.
It is also called as Khajuraho of Andhra Pradesh because of erotic sculptures on walls. The beautiful and detailed carvings on the temple conveys messages from four Vedas.
